It’s hard to pull one over on my DH. I still try though. His birthday is coming up. Since he’s getting old, I decided I wanted to have a little party. I also thought I needed to do something special, especially since we are living in Europe. Here’s what I ended up doing.
I was recently contacted by Shindigz , a party supply company. I had never heard of them to be honest with you. Being overseas, most folks I know order party stuff from the usual suppliers we’ve ordered from for years. You know the ones I’m talking about. Usually you have to order the stuff well ahead of time, because shipping to APO overseas sucks from most of these other companies. In fact, I don’t know very many party supply stores that ship to APO, and shopping for party supply stuff on the economy is super expensive!
I decided to have a Paris party for my DH….culminating in me handing my DH an envelope with a gift of a three day weekend in Paris. There are a few places you can look for cheap travel package deals, because you all know by now that I am über cheap. Since I love taking the train to Paris, I like to stop by the travel agency inside our local train station to check their deals. You can find the ones inside your local train station here. You usually have to go in to get these deals though, they are NOT online. Other places I like to look are Last Minute and Opodo. L’Tur is another good one. I’ve mentioned before that train travel alone on L’Tur’s site can be CHEAPER than the Deutsche Bahn’s website, even factoring in a Bahncard. Oh and don’t forget the regular deals on Ab in den Urlaub, with new deals every day and only a limited number of deals per timeframe. Watch the countdown ticker to see how many deals are left as well as the time left.
From Shindigz, I ordered:
and
I received exactly what I ordered, nicely packaged and all items were what they looked like they did in the photos on the site. They were all also within my budget. The table centerpieces are so nice, I just might keep them on some display shelves year round.
Here’s an example of a Paris package deal that was out of my budget, but wow…pretty cool!
I found a place in Munich that bakes those yummy French macaroons…which unfortunately are NOT cheap, but hey, I gotta have some extra bling, and I don’t feel confident enough to bake them myself. I’ll also have croissants, some other French pastries, French wine will be on the menu, and you can’t have a Paris party without some French cafe music I found online.
And the best part about Shindigz, is that they offer a 20% military discount. I believe you do need a military ID and ALL military branches of service are included as well as the Reserves and National Guard.
On the Shindigz site I found not only costumes but also party supplies, banners, decorations, table wear and cool themed items to make your party really extra special. I chose a Paris themed party for the obvious reason and picked out those items above that would complement the decorations I already had. You can choose whatever you want, mixing and matching items or following their themed links! This is a great resource to get something a little bit different for your party. AND, the best part is that I had order tracking when I ordered AND my cute box got to me in exactly ONE WEEK at my APO address. That clinched it for me and will keep me going back for my next event.
Where do you order your party supplies online, especially if you are overseas? Do you have a website you go to for your travel deals as well? Let’s hear it!
Note: I was compensated for the items I ordered from Shindigz in order to give an honest review of those items and their delivery service.
